Why We Created
Printed Lace
FROM OUR FOUNDER

When I first started Evelyn & Bobbie, I started with talking to women. Like the geek that I am, I studied Medical Anthropology in my undergrad. And while I never imagined I might become a bra entrepreneur at the time I completed my degree, I did have a deep grounding in qualitative methodology–I knew my way around interviews and focus groups. In my very first round of formal focus groups (complete with two way mirrors and furious notetakers on the other side of the glass), I met with groups of 3-4 women who all had D cups and up. At one point, I put a pile of bras on the table. I asked them to show me which bras were “desirable.” They quickly piled up the lace bras, and others with delicate trim or other pretty details. Then, I asked them, “which bras apply to you?” The lace bras were swiftly swept to the side, and the piled up the “ugly granny bras”. Those, they would explain, were the only ones they could trust to offer support. They would elaborate: lace would inevitably become itchy or balled up after washing, and lose support within a few wears. This happened group after group for two days.

In the reflection that followed, the concept of printed lace was born.

As women, we love the delicate, lovely feeling of lace. Now, printed lace gives you all the sweetness you love, without any of the downside. Smooth, uplifting, and perfect. Over time, we’ve launched a wide range of laces, and they are consistently our best selling fashion styles!

Here’s the point: at Evelyn & Bobbie we live to defy the status quo. We believe that by talking to women, and working hard to create customer-centered designs, we can give women things that have for too long been out of reach: beauty and purpose.

This summer, each Printed Lace colorway is drawn from natural stones, chosen for their ethereal energy and quiet strength. We reimagined lace from the inside out so it could lift and support you, while giving you the feminine detail you so desire.
