What My Daughter's First Underwire Try-On Taught Me
I am a 34G. My beautiful teenage daughter is a 32G. Last night, we both tried on so-called push-up T-shirt bras from that big "sexy" store. We all know the one. I hadn't put on an underwire bra in years. My teenage daughter had never tried one on. We had a fascinating conversation to follow.
The Same Pressure Points, A Hundred Years Later
We talked about how conventional bras cause two pressure points underneath the wire for heavier boobs like ours. “Even my friends with small busts say these bras are uncomfortable too,” Maezy said.
It was amazing to watch her experiencing this hundred-year-old product for the first time. She noticed how tight the band felt. It would ride up on a comfortable setting, or cut when snug. I explained to her that it was because they aren’t made with the same four-way stretch as the Evelyn & Bobbie bras that she’s been wearing.
She also pointed out how the tiny narrow straps had to be all the way tightened to give her support, but then they cut into her shoulders.
She remarked how her boobs looked like “half cantaloupes” and how they “kind of look good” but now it felt like everything was shoved up under her chin. Every single thing she was experiencing was what I used to experience every day.

The T-Shirt Test
The last thing she did was put a T-shirt over this bra. Her T-shirt looked frumpy and lumpy. “Wow!” she said. “This bra doesn’t look good under a T-shirt at all, even though it’s a T-shirt bra.”
“And that, my dear, is why I started a bra company,” I said.
Why I Started a Bra Company
I’m so proud of the bras that we sell at Evelyn & Bobbie. As we prepare to launch the new Busty bra, which is specifically designed to fit women with very small rib cages and very full bust, I continue to fall in love with what we do over and over and over. Sharing “old world” bras with my daughter last night reaffirmed all the reasons why we do what we do.
