Celebrating the Matriarchy that Shaped Us

--

WE HONOR OUR MATRIARCHS

None of us does anything all by ourselves. For every great accomplishment, there are generations of women who have worked to create the opportunities we have today. At Evelyn & Bobbie, nothing is more inspiring to us than the women who helped us become who we are.

The Oxford English Dictionary defines the word “matriarch” as “a woman who is the head of a family or tribe” or “an [older] woman who is powerful within a family or organization.” Does that definition immediately make you think of someone?

Small in stature but larger than life, Roblay McMullin (pictured) was a beloved matriarch to one of our team members at Evelyn & Bobbie.

WOMEN ARE LEADING TOGETHER

The number of bold, sophisticated matriarchs is growing by the day. With more and more women starting their own companies, entering previously male-dominated fields, and showing up as leaders, we are constantly reminded that the world is becoming a more balanced place for humanity.

Despite what the history books may suggest, we all know that the world has been full of matriarchs since the dawn of time and our rich herstory runs through the veins (and brains) of every one of us. We’ve all been touched by the power of female mentors, whether they’ve been mothers, grandmothers, aunts, family friends, colleagues, bosses, or neighbors.

SYMBOLIZING THE UNION OF BEAUTY AND PURPOSE

At Evelyn & Bobbie, we honor our matriarchs. So much so that two of them inspired our brand’s name: Evelyn and Bobbie, who represent the union of beauty and purpose, the past and the future, form and function.
